I got in this habit where I would eat breakfast before my morning class and then again after class, about an hour before practice. I called it “second breakfast” and would joke to my teammates how I wouldn’t be able to get through practice without it. I’ve definitely gained some weight this semester and when I realized I wanted to stop enjoying my second breakfast. But once I tried to I realized I was right! I COULDN’T get through practice as well or stop thinking about how hungry I was. I got faster in races, my workouts were better, and I ran more mileage than ever before. Second breakfast may have increased my mass, but it also made me better.
