This is what my country is actually like, btw. I’ve heard stories from friends and relatives about TV license agents who demand to inspect your house to make sure you’re not watching your TV without a license. In fact, even if you own a TV but don’t watch it (say you only use it for gaming) they try to force you to pay for the license still (and they try to force you to pay if you stream TV as well).
This country is full of government employees on a powertrip. Not just TV license people but many people who work for the government try to exert power over you.

Back at uni everybody in our student accommodation block got the same scary looking letter with notices in red capital letters saying that unauthorised TVs had been detected in the building and that they WOULD come down on all of us like the fist of God unless we paid up for licenses pronto. There were no TVs even in the building. TVL/BBC are just like a gang shaking down students and the elderly for money with threats. Fuck them and the political establishment that enables them.
