mixed children are racially oppressed no matter how they grew up

I’m gonna like. explain.

mixed poc (yeah including mixed white) and non mixed people of color share a lot of the same racial backlash but there’s a special brand of racism that mixed ppl face because it feels like you don’t belong to either.

growing up half mestizo? (i don’t even know how to describe myself how sad is that. we just call ourselves “mexican” down here in good ol texas) and white really sucks especially with the really racist vibes.

of course you get the whole “too brown for white” but you also get to experience “too white to be brown”. it’s like you belong no where and people will ALWAYS have something to say about your race when it’s brought up, whether it’s poc who share one half of your race or whites who share the other half

it’s even worse when you’re raised in a white centric family. I really do want to connect with the mexican side of my family and experience their traditions but I can’t because I feel like I would be appropriating them somehow (even though I wouldn’t be. because I’m literally that race)

idk I’m just. rlly tired of being treated like a mutt. god forbid I call myself Hispanic/mestizo/mexican OR white because I don’t pass well as either
