nihilnovisubsole:

it’s august 30th, which means both reiner and diego’s latest lovestruck seasons have wrapped. which also means – at last – i get to talk about writing them!

i enjoy writing diego in general, but i have a soft spot for this season of his route. it’s one with a lot of firsts – we finally get to meet eva, and diego and MC finally really start seeing the world as a couple. i’m from the LA area and i miss living there a lot, so it was a bittersweet nostalgia trip to take them to places like hollywood boulevard and rodeo drive. if i’d indulged myself, some of those episodes would’ve been twice as long. thankfully for you, that’s why i have producers to get me back on track.

i also thought it was cute that they ran into reiner in chicago, and the two routes i handle got to intersect for a minute. i’ve been a fan of games a lot longer than i’ve made any money at writing for them, so i know headcanons and fan theories keep the wheels turning. my attitude is “the more the merrier” – they get people talking, and there have been some funny fan responses to lovestruck’s crossovers and easter eggs. how much is everything connected in the “lovestruck extended universe?” i don’t know! i’m not bluffing because of NDAs, either. it’s all what you make of it.

all i’ll say about how the season ends is that it’s some of the most gratifying work i’ve done for lovestruck so far. i won’t tell you what happens – i think most of you can guess – but i really, sincerely hope you enjoy it. it’s been a labor of love.

i’m talking about diego a lot here, but reiner deserves an honorary shoutout as well. if you follow my other work, you know i like power, intrigue, and resistance plots, and reiner’s route has let me do all three over the course of the war. honestly, i’ve been spoiled with everything lovestruck has given me. i don’t know where they’re going next, but i hope you’ll be along for the ride.

now go read! 🦇
