approximate map of the areas where more than 67% of the population speak a celtic language (using 2011 data)
six celtic languages were spoken into the modern era: gaeilge (irish), gàidhlig (scottish gaelic), cymraeg (welsh), gaelg (manx), kernowek (cornish), and brezhoneg (breton). unesco classifies cymraeg as vulnerable, gaeilge and gàidhlig as
definitely endangered, and brezhoneg as severely endangered. kernowek and gaelg were recently brought back from extinction but remain critically endangered. This is the work of colonization.
All of Ireland speaks Irish. It’s not exclusively spoken in An Ghaeltacht. It’s just that it’s spoken as a first language there. But yes, the areas are very, very small. And that is wholly colonisation.
Also, more parts of Cork speak it too like this I think.
