Raising the minimum wage never works. Don’t understand how folks don’t get that. That’s basic economics.
I don’t understand how you’re saying it never works. This was a conscious choice by Amazon to deprive their workers of more money in line with this raise. Amazon is a trillion dollar company, it’s owner is the riches man in the world, he has the power, means, and ability to provide a decent wage AND benefits, but he chooses not to in the pursuit of profit.
“Basic economics” is such a bullshit statement, people run the economy, it’s a thing built by people, there are multiple schools of thought to it; and whether or not people get paid a decent wage is completely in the hands of the person running the business. If “basic economics” means workers getting paid more are deprived of their benefits, then we need a new economic system, because this one is fucked to the core.
