When a character doesn’t realize they’ve been, like, shot or whatever and they hand brushes against their side and comes away wet with blood, and they’re just staring at it like wtf is this and then their knees just totally give out on them and they sink down, maybe gasping a little as the reality finally hits them. That’s good stuff.
I see that, and raise you a character who knows they’ve been shot, but waits until the rest of their crew is out of sight to put their hand against the slowly spreading stain of blood on their shirt, then trying to steady their breathing so they can follow without letting on how injured they are.
Okay but like the character who doesn’t realize they’ve been hurt trying to see if everyone else is okay only to slowly realize that everyone is looking at them with mounting horror. Then they touch their side to find it’s wet and oh no
What if you were dating a moth prince and living in his kingdom and he knew how out of place you felt so he made you dozens of silk dresses and blankets and gave you lots of fuzzy shawls and scarves so you wouldn’t stand out so much and always said you were so beautiful you were glowing and occasionally bump right into your face because it was a little joke and he would pretend you were a light bulb and give you tiny kisses
Half of me is like “what the fuck am I looking at” and the other half finds this inexplicably adorable and good.
i’ve said this before but….more stories where being gay is what saves and heals a character. more stories where a girl meets a nice girl and develops feelings for her and these feelings are the source of her happiness, her freedom, her escape, rather than her suffering. more stories where a guy’s boyfriend is the reason he is able to leave an abusive home and why he doesn’t self-harm anymore.
gayness not as a curse, but as a blessing. gay characters’ partners as heroes. a character’s gayness as perhaps the one and only thing that even ties them to reality. more stories like this. please.
